Seasonal Snowfall Record

"BOSTON (AP) — Boston's miserable winter is now also its snowiest season going back to 1872.

The official measurement of 108.6 inches at Logan International Airport Sunday night topped a season record of 107.9 inches set in 1995-96..."

Why is a Maui girl writing about Boston snowfall?
She wants to prompt her readers - specifically those who have a bucket list  - to think about life a little differently.

You wake up one day and you realize you’re not fulfilling that bucket list.

That dream of owning semi-rural acreage in an eternal summer climate has somehow slid to the back burner. You’d planned to have your own fruit trees, your own exotic flowers, grow your own vegetables, live in a tropical paradise, learn how to paint or record in your own studio. The ocean and mountain views. They’ll come after there are x dollars in the bank and after x goal is accomplished. Throwing the surfboard on top of the car and driving 5 minutes to catch a wave. That’s on the list, but it can’t happen right now. That’ll come someday.

Friends, those things happen every day right here on Maui. One of the interesting dynamics of life here is that so many people understand that life is meant to be lived. Life is not meant to expire minute by minute at a soul-sucking, mind-polluting job, sitting in traffic while suffering from bone-chilling cold.

This beautiful 26-acre property in Haiku sits right at the corner of Haiku Road and the famed Road to Hana. It already offers more exotic tropical vegetation than you’ll ever be able to handle. Its gently sloped landscape is peaceful and serene. The sights include panoramic ocean and mountain views. The earthy, rainy aromas are intoxicating to the nature lover. The sounds. If you love silence and the distant song of a bird, this is home.

The story of this property dates early in Maui’s history. Once used as housing for local plantations, this property was carefully selected by descendants of the Alexander and Baldwin family as a unique place to call home. The setting is ready for a beautiful estate and offers many opportunities for the savvy buyer will enjoy it for generations.

With just four minutes to Paia Town and two minutes to the Haiku Market Place, this parcel that has been pre-approved for 4, 5, and 7-lot subdivisions is in one of Maui’s most desirable locations. With six existing homes and recreation for miles around, this is the perfect family or corporate retreat.

All of the homes are of the old era plantation style. All have been recently tented and painted. The newly remodeled main home sits at the pinnacle of the property, encompassing views of the West Maui Mountains, the ocean, the cityscape and, of course, the acreage itself. The main home is the ideal place to live while the new owner builds the home of their dreams.

There is additional 4000 +/- square foot multi-use barn. There is also a free-standing building currently used as a personal fitness studio for the owner.
