"Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others." -Jonathan Swift

Situated at the end of a rarely traveled road and almost deceptively hidden from Maui's famed Road to Hana lie 2.49 ridge top acres.

Bordering the edge of the Ko'olau Forest Reserve, you'll never have to worry about further development along your very private road.

Vision, though. That's the point of this property. There are already 2 permitted structures on the site - one 2000+ sf structure, and the smaller one pictured above.  The smaller one  will make lovers of the increasingly popular tiny house movement want to squeal with delight. The potential is endless.

There's plenty of room to build your dream home overlooking the tropical gulch and the mighty Pacific. The land itself can bear just about any kind of tropical fruit and vegetable you'd care to plant.

You owe it to yourself to visit the site and employ a bit of vision. What do you see?

Mark Antony and Cleopatra

Mark Antony and Cleopatra. Were they an historic fact or a Shakeapearean invention? No matter the factual nature, they lived lives of opulence.

Crafted stonework and ironwork were undoubtedly part of their lives. Plush towels and silks surely played their respective roles as well. Imagine the exotic fruits awaiting their whim beside a bath like this.

Ocean views and tropical rain forests? Hmm....maybe not so much.

That's okay. You can have your own Cleopatra moment in the master bath at 130 Kuloli Place in Haiku, Maui - complete with an abundance of every tropical fruit you can imagine. If that ever starts to bore you, the outdoor bathing options just might rejuvenate your love of the bath.

Which movie star's house is at the end of this Maui driveway?

Which movie star's house is at the end of this Maui driveway?

Well, honestly, there's no movie star at the end of this drive. It sure looks private and exotic enough for a movie star, though, doesn't it? If privacy is your thing, this is your place.

Imagine just for a minute this drive being your own home stretch, the place where you exhale, knowing that your property sits alone at the end of the road, and no development will ever take place behind you.

Pretty dramatic, huh?

61 S. Honokala Drive is just off Maui's famed Road to Hana, almost deceivingly hidden from the main road. Here's proof: http://tinyurl.com/k3v4tqb

Featuring 2.49 ridge top tropical acres adjacent to the protected Ko'olau Forest Reserve, this property has sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding landscape down below. There are two permitted structures with plenty of room left over to build your dream home.

The perfect privacy. The perfect view. For a lifetime.

Give me a call and I'll be happy to take you for a hike around the property.

Decisions, Decisions...

Mornings are different around here. We have to make some pretty tough decisions.

Crawl out of bed, get the coffee started, walk out onto the main lanai to breathe in a little bit of the morning's light showers while checking out how many bananas and avocados are ready to be picked.

Check out the almost-daily rainbow. More or less awake now.

Scratch the head and yawn. Decision time.

Shower indoors or outdoors today?

Decisions, decisions...

Confessions of a Maui Oceanfront Home - Volume V

When last I left you, I signed off by breathing a sigh of relief that my search for a new owner was over, and I was in escrow.

At that time, 22,000 people had seen me on Facebook. Even though I had revealed my escrow status, that viewership is up to 28,000 people. I blush.

With the bidding war over, I feel like a star is being born. My grounds are abuzz with surveyors, appraisers, and inspectors of all kinds. Although I'll miss the owners I've known all my life, I'm excited about the new ones. They too are artists.

I'm home again.

Until next time,

Location, Location, Location

Location, Location, Location

I’ve heard it more times than I can remember. If there was ever a clear-cut definition of the phrase, I’m it.

If you click on the Google maps link, you’ll see why. http://goo.gl/maps/tiRup  It doesn’t get much more grand than Hawai’i. Maui, specifically.

Just off the famed Road to Hana of 629 curves and 59 bridges within a 52 mile span, I’m the 2.49 acres at the end of a lonely road overlooking a tropical gulch. That single gulch works its way down from Maui’s dormant volcano, Mount Haleakala, toward the Pacific Ocean, just putting the icing on the view. I back up to the Ko’olau Forest Reserve, meaning that there’ll never be any development behind me.

Although the lifestyle I provide is priceless, I do have a real-world price. $695,000.

Confessions of a Maui Oceanfront Home - Volume IV

There have been 22,000 views of my February 13 posting, “Confessions of an Oceanfront Maui Home," sparking a major turn of events. The bidding war to land me has ended. I am now in escrow, no longer holding my breath.

I’ve always thought of myself as content with my lot in life, but I had no idea I was so…well, desirable.

Mahalo to everyone to who came out to meet me. I wish you well in your search for a new Maui home. Wish me and my new owners a long, happy and healthy life together.

Until next time,

40 Hale Pili

Go Ahead. Jump.

Have you ever thought about jumping but just haven’t quite had the guts to do so? Maybe these two perspectives can help.

$865,000 - One bedroom in Manhattan.
$865,000 - Two acres on Maui.

Granted, Maui and NYC offer two very different lifestyles. However, what you’ll find about Maui transplants is that many are former mainlanders who, for whatever reasons, finally decided to take a deep breath and jump.

Maui isn’t for everyone. Most of its roads are two lanes wide, comparatively empty with unbelievably low speed limits. That's okay, though. The natural order of things here gave birth to our well known slogan: "Slow down. This ain't the mainland."

Skyscrapers and Louboutins are surrendered in exchange open space and barefoot nights.

We don't get to squeeze shoulder to sweaty armpit with 20,000 of our closest friends to see Billy Joel or Elton John play Madison Square Garden, but we do get to exhale on the lush lawn with a couple thousand other laid back locals under the diamond stars and swaying palm trees to experience their legendary A-list magic.

There’s rarely much of any newsworthy weather variance, let alone any winter storms bearing names that conjure up visions of Titanic disaster. Here, if you don’t like the weather, drive a few miles and you'll find what you swear to be your made-to-order microclimate.

Compare this Big Apple address (http://tinyurl.com/ots4wx7) to this Mountain Apple address (http://www.130kuloliplace.com). They are selling for the exact same dollar amount - apples to apples. Sort of. The Maui address has two homes instead of two rooms. Even more tempting, the cost of living in Hawaii is actually less than that of New York - or even San Francisco, for that matter.

If you’ve ever considered jumping, this just may be that sole opportunity that doesn't end with "...if I had only..." CALL ME NOW before this blog goes viral like the last one did (actually sparking a bidding war).

Go ahead and take that deep breath. Take the chance. Jump, no matter where you're from. I’ll hold your hand with aloha.
