If you've never visited Maui's North Shore, you simply must make the time to do so. From the US West Coast, it takes less time to get here than what you probably spend in the office on a regular work day.
The North Shore is on the windward side of the island, where the weather patterns form before they make their way through the central valley. We usually get a few minutes of light rain almost every morning, followed by the requisite rainbow. After that, the refreshing tradewinds take over, negating the need for air conditioning. It's so nice to have the windows and doors open all the time, 365 days a year. I know of very few places in the US where that can happen.
There happens to be one particular place on Maui's North Shore where you can make that happen for yourself every single day. Check it out: http://106laakeaplace.com
This lovely two-acre oceanview property features a 2,610 square foot, architecturally stunning home with three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a 1,000 square foot ohana (guest house).
